ASD Family-Member Owner Kathy Kelley Is Now A Featured Member of Funeral Divas
Kathy Kelley grew up in Springfield, PA with her brothers Marty Jr. and Kevin Czachor. For 40 years, the Czachor family has owned and managed the company ASD – Answering Service for Directors. As a child, Kathy often listened as her parents, Martin Sr. and Barbara, discussed the needs of their clients and brainstormed business strategies. At the time, ASD answered for any business that required 24/7 service . Kathy remembers when her parents began to recognize that funeral professionals required specialized support.
“No one else cared about the quality of the person answering the phone. They just wanted a name, number and didn’t want to be bothered unless it was an absolute emergency but funeral directors were just nicer and wanted to be more available. They really cared about how we treated their callers,” Kathy says. “That’s why our family decided to start working exclusively with funeral homes.”

“Sensitive Save of the Week” Winner
This week, our Training Specialist Lorenzo handled a call from a hospital employee who was calling local funeral homes on behalf of a family. The woman was looking for information on pre-arrangements but wanted to go to the next number on her list when Lorenzo did not immediately answer her question. With a steadfast approach, Lorenzo was able to persuade the hospital worker to leave her call back number and then learned that she was calling about a patient who was very close to passing away. Lorenzo is this week’s “Sensitive Save of the Week” winner!

Funeral Service: A Whole New Ballgame
ASD had a wonderful time attending Funeral Service: A Whole New Ball Game, a unique conference that was held at Yankee Stadium last Friday, September 14th. ASD’s Family Member Owners Kevin Czachor and Kathy Kelley attended this unique conference with our National Sales Manager, Jason Bathurst and Corporate Specialist Mary Ann Carlisle. The team returned with some great insights and tips from the dynamic lineup of speakers, including Michael Michalowicz, author of the Pumpkin Plan. Michael was kind enough to sign a copy of his book for Kevin at the conference. After enjoying all of the wonderful speakers, the ASD team enjoyed an exciting Yankees game from a luxury suite. Thank you to everyone at American Funeral Director Magazine for hosting such an informative and enjoyable day at the ballpark. We hope to sponsor more of these great events in the future.
